The Alaska J4/J5 Alpine Championship moved from Fairbanks
The Alaska J4/J5 Alpine Championship races, for athletes 9-12 years old, have been moved to Alyeska. The dates are still the same, March 7-9. The series consists of a Super G, a giant slalom and a slalom. If this is your first year ski racing, this isn’t an appropriate race to participate in, particularly with the limited training we’ve had. Let Bill know if you’re planning on going and what your travel and housing needs are.

Membership Meeting Nov. 18th
There will be a ski team membership meeting Sunday, Nov. 18, 7:00 PM, at the Pioneer Hall at Pioneer Park (Alaskaland). Pioneer Hall is the first building past the railroad tracks as you enter the back gate at the corner of Moore St. and 2nd Ave. (see map).
Please plan on attending this meeting. This will be our only chance this season to meet as a group of parents and athletes. Program Director Reini Neuhauser has many important things to discuss which involve changes in where and how he envisions the program heading in the next few years. It’s exciting and will result in a much more comprehensive program, with greater benefit to a greater number of youth. Your involvement is critical to realizing these goals.
Contact me or Reini with any questions. See you Sunday!

The 2007 TGR movie fundraiser is coming up on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10 at 8 PM in Centennial Center for the Arts Theatre (at Pioneer Park). For a online preview, see the trailer at http://www.tetongravity.com/ |
Bill Hauer asks if you can, please solicit local merchants for door prizes and let him know what you come up with. Prizes don't have to be related to skiing or winter sports, they can be anything. In the past, we've had prizes donated by restaurants, chiropractors, book stores, gas stations, etc. Let anybody who donates know how much we appreciate their support and that we will acknowledge their generosity at the shows. So try anybody, anywhere! Please.
Also, if you can help out at the door Fri. or Sat., let Bill know. We need folks to help with selling tickets, handling money, helping with setup and clean up.
=========================================MMASC ski team is working with the Fairbanks Ski Patrol this year on their big, annual ski swap Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10 at the Centennial Center for the Arts Theatre (at Pioneer Park) Civic Center.
We need 5-6 people to help Friday during equipment check-in, from 5 to about 9:30 PM. We'll also need people Saturday during check-in from 9-11 AM, and then again from 3-5 PM during check-out.
Please let Bill Hauer know when you can work. Proceeds from the swap will be split between the two organizations, based on our level of participation. And don't forget to bring all the skis, snowboards and other winter gear you no longer want, need or fit into and sell it!
Reach Bill at 460-2728, bill.hauer@uaf.edu
=========================================There will be a general membership meeting on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 18.
