BEGINNING TRAINING PROGRAM (BTP) - 10 yrs and younger

This Saturday, Dec. 23, the BTP will have an opportunity to meet their coaches and ski at the Birch Hill Ski Area on Ft. Wainwright from noon till 4:00. Lift tickets are $13 and you'll need to let them know at the ticket counter that you're with the ski team. They have a list of all team members at the counter. To get on post, stop at the Visitors Center at the main gate and get a day pass. You'll need: VEHICLE REGISTRATION, CURRENT PROOF OF VEHICLE INSURANCE and DRIVERS LICENSE.

Remember: Birch Hill has a chair lift. So dress warmly. You can't warm up on the bus!

Ft. Wainwright access:
Stop and check in at the Main Gate (Gaffney Rd.) Visitors Center. They have a list of drivers' names for our club. Let them know you are with the Moose Mountain ski team and Birch Hill Ski Area. Also request a temporary gate pass valid until the end of March. This will speed up access next time you go on post by eliminating the need to stop and check in (you must show a drivers license at the gate).
The following documents are REQUIRED for post access: DRIVERS LICENSE, VEHICLE REGISTRATION and PROOF OF VEHICLE INSURANCE.

Update for this weekend:
--Bring slalom skis for training FRIDAY & SATURDAY if you have them.
--Bring GS skis for training SUNDAY.
--Coaches, especially new coaches: please come to training this weekend if you can.

Again, they've messed up our gate access list. If your name doesn't show up the computer at the front gate visitors check-in, just go ahead and get a day pass. Remember to have DRIVERS LICENSE, VEHICLE REGISTRATION and PROOF OF INSURANCE. You are affiliated with the Birch Hill ski area and Moose Mountain ski team.

If in doubt about the temperature and whether there will be training, call the Hotline, 451-8595, at least an hour before training is scheduled to start. It's going to be cold this weekend regardless, so DRESS APPROPRIATELY. Bring a face mask, toe warmers, boot gloves, wear polypro and fleece.

Remember to let them know at the ticket counter that you're with the ski team.
Think snow! Moose only needs about 6" more.

  • The Birch Hill ski area opens this weekend. The ATP will be training there until Moose Mountain opens. Training lift tickets are $10 and they will have a list of ski team member names at the ticket counter.
  • Please read the instructions below for Ft. Wainwright vehicle access.
  • Make sure that you've eaten BEFORE the start of training!
  • Since there isn't any school Thursday & Friday, everyone is encouraged to free-ski those days. (Note that the discounted lift tickets are for training only.)
If in doubt, call the Hotline (451-8595) to check for cold weather cancellations. Temperature cut-off for training is -10 degrees at 4:30 PM Friday, 9 AM Saturday and 10 AM Sunday.
